As AI makes waves in the workplace, it’s undeniable that this new technology is having an effect on employees’ roles and overall employment levels. But how is it affecting those newest to the job market?
Stanford Report on AI and Employment
A recent report from Stanford studied 25 million employees in the US via ADP payroll data and found that, “since the widespread adoption of generative AI, early-career workers (ages 22-25) in the most AI-exposed occupations have experienced a 13 percent relative decline in employment” compared to older workers or those in fields with little AI.
The report also states that “while we find employment declines for young workers in occupations where AI primarily automates work, we find employment growth in occupations in which AI use is most augmentative.”
While it’s concerning that young workers are seeing fewer entry-level jobs due to AI’s impact, it’s encouraging to learn that AI augmenting work, rather than automating it away, can lead to employment growth.
CBE Uses AI Responsibly
CBE recognizes the importance of AI as an emerging technology and has chosen to use AI in a responsible, strategic way. We consciously use AI to help streamline and augment some elements of our work, from hiring and training to associate retention and co-worker engagement.
While we recognize that AI can be a helpful tool, we also care deeply about the human touch. At CBE, we never lose sight of the fact that we serve real people with real problems and we value the positive connections our live voice collection associates create with the people they serve.
How CBE Helps New Hires
CBE is always happy to talk to people who are interested in the role of collection associate, including young professionals and those right out of high school or college. We know the value that a multigenerational workforce can bring to our call centers through varied life experiences, skills, and talents, and we work hard to select candidates who will be the right fit for each role. CBE has a promote-from-within culture like no other and truly believes in giving collection associates the chance to fill higher roles, such as supervisor or trainer, as their experience and success with us grow.
